Souljuice Radio are now sponsoring a player from AFC Monton, as we strongly believe in putting money back into the community. After talks with the teams mangement, we came to an agreement to sponsor last seasons leading goalscorer "Rob Whatmough".
About AFC Monton
Monton Amateurs FC was formed in 1916 as a founder member of the
Eccles & District League.
The Club then joined the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur League and
remained there for over 60 years before moving to the Manchester League
in 1985.
The Club then moved to our present site in 1995 and began a Club
developement plan involving major ground improvements and expansion of
our activities to establish a significant junior football section for
community involvement.
At present we operate 2 senior Saturday teams, a newly formed senior
Sunday team, 4 mini-soccer teams, 7 junior teams and a Sunday soccer
school for 5 to 7 year old children.
As a Club we are committed to try and keep improving our facilities
for players of all ages and gender regardless of ability with the
emphasis always being on enjoyment in sport and the opportunity to meet
new friends.
It is with this in mind that we are attempting to raise a substantial
amount of money ourselves through various fund raising events and
generous donations to re-build our existing Club house and changing
facilities with a view to it becoming a local focal point for all the
surrounding community.
We have already received enquiries from various organisations, away
from football, regarding the possible future use of such a facility and
we are encouraged by their interest.
Yoga, table tennis, Information Technology, Mother and baby groups,
art class, general meeting place for the more elderly for a brew and a
chat are just some of the enterprising ideas at the moment so it is
vital that we achieve our aim for the build.
About Rob Whatmough
Robert Whatmough joined AFC Monton three seasons ago and has been our
top scorer each season hitting 17 goals in all competitions in 2011-12.
He is a local lad from Winton, well known and liked around the area
and respected throughout the Club for his sporting achievements.
He is currently our top scorer already this season and we all hope he
keeps the goals coming !
The sponsorship he has received is a first for the Club and we hope
more companies or individuals might follow.
